How to store wax melts so they stay beautifully scented
A few simple storage habits will keep your melts smelling their best for longer.
Wax melts are easy to look after, but a little care goes a long way. Fragrance fades faster when wax is exposed to heat, light and air, so good storage keeps your melts smelling just as they should.
Keep them cool
Store your melts somewhere cool, away from radiators, sunny windowsills and warm appliances. Wax softens in heat, and warmth encourages the fragrance to escape before you have had the chance to enjoy it.
Keep them out of the light
Direct sunlight can fade the colour of your melts as well as the scent. A cupboard or drawer is ideal.
Keep them sealed
Air is the enemy of fragrance. Keep melts in their original packaging until you use them, or pop them in a lidded tin. A storage tin also stops different scents mingling with each other.
Keep scents apart
Strong fragrances can transfer between melts stored loose together. If you have a collection, keep each scent in its own bag or compartment.
Use them, do not save them
Wax melts are made to be enjoyed. They are at their best when fresh, so there is no need to keep them for a special occasion. Buy what you will use over the next few months and treat yourself regularly.
